An ever increasing number of hearing aids offer wireless connectivity to other devices, such as televisions, mobile phones or music players. Most hearing aids achieve this connection via an intermediate streaming device. More recently iPhone and Android compatible hearing aids have been launched, permitting direct connection to smartphones without the requirement for an intermediate device. Hearing aid apps are also now available which allow the wearer to make changes to their sound settings via their phone. The advantage of making a wireless connection between hearing aid and other devices, is the reduction/elimination of competing noise. External wireless microphones can also be used to better focus on the voice of interest among a crowd of other voices.
